CROSS: “And I think that that is a question that has yet to be realized. What we do know is that Chuck Schumer is not meeting the moment. What we do know is that as brilliant as a mind as he has been, he’s also an institutionalist. And when you have a Donald Trump and a Republican Party who is literally taking apart the institution day by day, that doesn’t believe in the Constitution, that is willing to circumvent the process, you cannot go by the rules of the process. He is up against a man and a party who is absolutely fine with his mugshot being right next to the Oval Office. So when you’re dealing with somebody who doesn’t follow norms, who doesn’t follow the realities of the Constitution, who is willing to blow up the court, so to speak, you have to play by a different set of rules. And Chuck Schumer has shown, time and time again, he’s not willing to do so. That puts Democrats in a very bad position. That also means that when you have a party that has gone completely rogue, you have to become somebody who is going to drive them. And right now, he is not willing to be in the driver’s seat. Democrats want to see an aggressive approach against Donald Trump, against DOGE, against the MAGA insurrectionists. They want to see — and when I say insurrectionists, I don’t mean January 6th. I mean the individuals who are in the party right now, who are willing to shake up this country and basically destroy our Constitution and our fundamental values bit by bit. You don’t have that in Chuck Schumer.”
